Becoming Passionate About My Life
As Dr. Phil McGraw often says “I want you to get excited about your life”, and while I don’t resonate with everything he says, in that thinking he is absolutely right.
If our own lives aren’t worth getting excited about, what in this world is?
I’ve been thinking a lot this last year about choosing to see my life as a wonderful new adventure. My personal, expanding, glorious chosen adventure. Not something to be feared or confused by, but a magnificent exploration of all that life has to offer me.
The ideas people have about fate or some distant, autonomous deity controlling our lives, have never rung true for me. I’ve always known that I chose to come here, and that this life held glory for me beyond my ability to comprehend, if I could just figure out how it all works. And one of the keys to unlocking how it all works is passion.
Becoming passionately in love with ourselves and our lives, expands every aspect of us, exponentially. Our connection to Source, our capacity to love others, everything. It melts our resistance, and blows open the doors to allowing all of our desires. It makes us feel our strength and our power. Loving ourselves lets us take responsibility for what we have already created. We forgive ourselves for what we believe we created “wrong” and we start seeing the beauty and purpose of even the “wrong” creations. We begin to give ourselves credit and focus on what we’ve done right. We focus on what is perfect about us and as we do our vibration rises and attracts more and more of our own perfection.
And I know deeply that unless I get excited about being the one who is doing the creating in my life, I will never feel the power to allow myself to change it. The way to allow change is to take authority in my life. To make a choice to claim it back from any power, any person, any situation or circumstance to whom I’ve surrendered my power in the past.
In my case for years that was “authority” figures outside of me, a judgmental “God” outside of me and anything salty, sweet or crunchy. However as I’ve come to realize that Source is inside of me, a part of me, and that only I am the true authority in my life, I’ve realized that makes me worthy of abundant self love.
I realize this is such wonderful philosophy, but exactly how . . . when that triple chocolate sundae is calling my name . . . do I become so passionate about my life that the sundae craving fades away? How do I go from a place of feeling like my life is out of my control to a place where I’m excited, empowered and expectant about my life?
And the answer is actually incredibly simple . . . I make a choice.
I choose to be passionate about me. I choose to see myself, my life through passionate eyes. I choose everyday when I get up to find things in my life to be passionate about. I choose to look past what may seem obvious and create a vision of my life that is everything I ever wanted it to be.
In my weakest moments I choose to believe in my own strength. I choose to ask my Inner Being for guidance, for evidence of my worth, my power and my connection.
I make a choice to believe in magic, in the sweetness of possibility, in the strength of my spirit and in the security of my connection to Source.
I choose.
And I choose again.
And I choose again . . . and again . . . and again.
It’s my biggest gift and my greatest blessing . . . my ability to choose.

So, creation really is more about loving yourself; it's more about feeling your worthiness; it's more about appreciating a friend; it's more about enjoying the sunset; it's more about enjoying the beautiful flowers. It's more about finding reasons to relax into Well-Being, rather than gather up your strength and valiantly go forth to achieve your tasks, and serve your cause . . . because your "cause" is, to be the receiver and radiator of the love and Well-Being that is You.
